1. Definition
Charcoal is a high carbon content residue obtained from incomplete combustion of wood or other woody raw materials (such as sawdust, straw and other agricultural and forestry waste), or pyrolysis under air-isolated conditions. Charcoal is a raw material for the production of carburizing agents, carbon disulfide, etc. It can be used as a reducing agent in steel and industrial silicon smelting, and can also be used as a surface flux in non-ferrous metal smelting. In addition, the barbecue industry, as well as home cooking and heating, also consume a large amount of charcoal every year.
2.There are four main types of charcoal: white charcoal, black charcoal, activated carbon, and machine-made charcoal.
White charcoal: A kind of charcoal that is carbonized in a charcoal kiln, burned in the air for a while for high-temperature charcoal refining, and then simmered with wet sand. It is so called because it turns grayish white in appearance after burning in air. It can be used in food processing and smelting rare metals.
Black carbon: commonly known as soft carbon, also known as earth kiln charcoal, referred to as BC. Charcoal with a solid black surface or with a white powder that can be blown off. When the carbonization is completed, the hot charcoal is cut off from the air in the kiln to extinguish the fire. It has low hardness, produces a mute sound when struck, and has a soft texture. It catches fire easily, but ashes quickly, is not durable, and has weak firepower.
Activated carbon: Activated carbon is carbon with a developed pore structure, large specific surface area and adsorption capacity. The total surface area of each gram of activated carbon can reach more than 1,500 square meters. Activated carbon has adsorption properties, catalytic properties, is insoluble in water and other solvents, and has physical and chemical stability. In addition to contacting oxygen at high temperatures and reacting with strong oxidants such as ozone, chlorine, and dichromate, it is extremely stable under actual use conditions. Activated carbon has a wide range of uses due to its excellent properties as an adsorbent.
Machine-made charcoal: Using wood chips as raw material, the technology is mainly to form the wood chips through high temperature and high pressure in the machine, and then send them to the carbonization furnace for carbonization. There is no need to add any additives during the entire production process, and it belongs to the category of environmentally friendly products. There are two main shapes on the market: hexagonal with a hole in the center and square with a hole in the center. Machine-made charcoal has many advantages such as long burning time, high calorific value, no smoke, no explosion, and environmental protection.
The difference between machine-made charcoal and other charcoals
1. Environmental protection: Do not cut down trees, use bamboo and wood product waste to produce waste, and turn waste into treasure. The production of ordinary charcoal requires cutting down trees and destroying the ecological environment.
2. High energy: The fixed carbon content is about 80% and the calorific value is 7500-8000kcal/kg, while the fixed carbon content of charcoal is low and the calorific value is about 6500kcal/kg.
3. Clean and hygienic: no smoke, no carbon tips, no sparks during combustion, the ash residue will naturally fall down during combustion and will not float up, the ash content is about 3% or 6%, there will be less ash residue after combustion, and it is flammable.
4. Regular shape, reasonable structure, easy to use: uniform length and size, hollow or solid structure, easy to burn and use.
5. Low moisture content, within 5%: Ordinary charcoal has high moisture content.
6. This product does not contain chemical substances, is non-toxic, has no odor, has no pollution, and has the advantages of long burning time.
